Juiphool (Orange and Purple) Juiphool is a tale of two mothers from the conflict-ridden Assam-Nagaland border area, where the daily routine of the villagers of Naragaon has radically altered: vigilance at night, and rest during the day. Set against such a backdrop, the film follows Lakhimi, a pregnant Assamese widow, who develops a secret bond with a Naga woman, Rengma, who has suffered repeated miscarriages. As their bond grows stronger, the villagers get suspicious about Lakhimi ‘s secret relationship and hatch a plan to catch her red-handed. Meanwhile, an Assamese folk tale -Tula Aru Teja - with a similar storyline flows along through the voices of Gita and her mother -the victims of violent border conflicts.
