In Luomu, a town small enough to explore in just 30 minutes, Bai arrives at a guesthouse with a three-year-old postcard from her ex-boyfriend Wang that’s inscribed with the mysterious words ‘Gloaming in Luomu.’ As she walks through the town with the postcard, she encounters Wang’s traces in different places.
Zhang Lü is a Korean Chinese filmmaker. Zhang was originally a novelist before embarking on a career in cinema. His arthouse films have mostly focused on the disenfranchised, particularly ethnic Koreans living in China. In 2005, his feature film Grain in Ear was selected for the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival and won the ACID Award. It also won the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival. In 2007 his film Desert Dream was selected for the Main Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2014 his film Gyeongju was selected for the Main Competition at the Locarno International Film Festival. In 2023 his film The Shadowless Tower was selected for the Main Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Golden Balloon Award at the 45th Nantes Three Continents Festival (France).
