Simón Mesa Soto is a writer and director born on 23 January 1986 in Medellín, Colombia. He studied Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad de Antioquia. In 2014, he finished the MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School. His graduation film Leidi won the short film Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2014. His next short film, Madre was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2016.He is a director and writer, known for A Poet (2025), Amparo (2021) and Leidi (2014).
