Set to be held in the beach state of Goa from November 20 – 28, 2019, the 50th International Film Festival of India is already on a roll. With about 1000 entries received from more than 100 countries from across the globe in the past editions, this year promises to better than before!
IFFI Goa 2019 will showcase the best of recent International cinema, along with special sections such as Retrospectives, Oscar Award-Winning films, Homages, Indian Panorama Section featuring the best of Indian Cinema produced in the past year and so much more, with the aim of providing a platform for young creative minds to interact, view and learn.
The festival will feature 3 competitive sections:
1) International Competition: General competitive section for world cinema
2) Centenary Award for Best Debut Feature: Created for debut films of young and aspiring directors
3) ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Award: Aimed to promote feature films that focus on peace and love
There will be a host of Masterclasses by eminent film practitioners and Panel Discussions featuring a diverse range of distinguished personalities discussing topics of interest for film enthusiasts.
Glimpses from the past years
Last year, in the 2018 edition, the festival opening and closing ceremonies were hosted at the ‘Shyama Prasad Mukherjee‘ stadium, situated in Taleigao. With over 12000+ delegates, 500+ celebrities, 200+ films, this year is definitely going to be nothing less than a Grand Golden Jubilee.
The 50th IFFI is being led by a Steering Committee comprising of noted Indian entertainment industry professionals, including personalities such as Siddharth Roy Kapur, Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Shaji N Karun, Subhash Ghai to name a few.
In order to enhance the involvement of the Indian film industry, an extensive Film Preview Committee has been set up comprising of industry professionals from across the country.
A series of new initiatives and film screening packages will also be unveiled in the coming days. The delegate registrations for film institute students will be at no cost.
