India’s biggest and most prestigious film festival, International Film Festival Of India (IFFI), has called for feature film entries for its 2016 edition.The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has in 2011 set up a full-fledged independent body – The IFFI Secretariat to independently organise the International Film Festival of India from 2011 onwards.
Slated to be held from 20-28 November 2016, IFFI aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.
Last year’s edition featured First Cut, a specially curated selection of films representing THE FIRST WORK OF THE emerging talent in world cinema. The section featured emerging foreign filmmakers including Brian Perkins (Film – Golden Kingdom, USA), Michael Klette (Film – Solness, Germany) and Piotr Chrzan (Film – Moskvich-My Love, Poland) among others. You would also have access to a ton of networking avenues via the Open Forum and daily Press conferences which are attended by large audience and media persons.
To summarize, The Festival programme is broadly divided into the following categories:-
- International Competition for Feature Films.Fiction Films(minimum duration of 70 minutes)
- Non-Competition – for feature films from around the world
- Retrospectives, Tributes and other specially curated packages
- Indian Panaroma
- Technical Workshops /Masterclasses and other interactive academic sessions
- Film Bazaar
A few prominent points about Films in the International Competition are:
- Feature films must have a minimum duration of 70 minutes in Original Language Soundtrack with English Subtitles
- They must have been completed between September 1, 2015 and August 31,2016
