50 films by 50 Women made the 50th IFFI a golden one

Considered to be once a male dominated industry, changing times have seen more women getting behind the camera, and we can only applaud them wholeheartedly. On the 50th edition of IFFI, we were proud to feature 50 films from World Cinema directed by 50 strong Women Filmmakers that have won billions of hearts worldwide. 

IFFI 2019 brought to you the likes of “37 Seconds” directed by Hikari which revolves around the life of a young Japanese woman trying to lead a self-determined life. It reflects the life of most women who have to juggle between their dreams and obligations towards their families.  Another noteworthy film covered under this section was “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” , 2019 drama film directed by Celine Sciamma which is based on the life of a gifted painter Marianne. The film bagged the “Queer Palm” at Cannes making it the first film directed by a woman to win the award, Sciamma also has to her credit an award for “Best Screenplay” at the Cannes. 

The Film Selections at IFFI 2019 promised you films which had fetched acclaim owing to their fine scripts and noteworthy execution.
