The International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) will have the screening of Accessible India Films, a collaboration between IFFI, Saksham Bharat and UNESCO with the aim to promote the creation of inclusive spaces for the differently abled to access the joy of cinema through Audio description.
Audio description is an additional narration that translates images, visual information or non-dialogue portions of film into spoken words so that visually impaired people can access, enjoy and learn from works of popular films. The 47th edition of IFFI had become the first film festival in India to screen three audio described movies Gandhi, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Dhanak.
This year at the Golden Jubilee of IFFI, this unique film section will witness the screening of 3 films :

Munna Bhai, a roguish don, hopelessly falls in love with Janhavi, a beautiful radio jockey in Mumbai. To get a chance to meet her, he participates in her radio quiz on Mahatma Gandhi. He wins the contest by kidnapping history professors, and lies to her about being a history professor and a true Gandhian. He gets caught when Janhavi subsequently asks Munna to present a lecture on Gandhi to a community of senior citizens who live in her home, called the ‘Second Innings’ house’. Although he ends up hurting her, he also undergoes a change and genuinely begins helping people.

The film is untold story of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s journey from ticket collector to the world-cup-winning captain of the Indian Cricket Team. Dhoni, a boy from Ranchi, aspires to play cricket for India. He initially tries to please his father by working for the Indian Railways. With his manager’s support, Dhoni plays cricket alongside his work, and participates in different tournaments. Later, Dhoni leaves his job to follow his only ambition – to become a cricketer. He works hard and is selected in the national team, and goes on to lead Indian team to the 2011 Cricket World Cup win.

2019 marks the 50th year of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is often counted amongst one of the earliest film festivals of the Asian continent. The 50th International Film Festival of India,2019 will witness over 200 best films from 76 countries, 26 feature films and 15 non feature films in Indian panorama section and more than 10,000 people and film lovers are expected to participate in the golden jubilee edition.
